The Prompt
We added a new, reusable audit prompt to the accordant-vault repository:
Audit this entire codebase for materially useful simplifications in its data structures, state representation, control flow, algorithms, and ownership. This is an audit-only exercise. Do not edit files, run tests, implement changes, or propose code. Produce one canonical scratchpad or report containing: the subsystem inventory; confirmed opportunities; explicit skip decisions with rationale; and, for each opportunity, the smallest credible implementation scope, affected files/interfaces, regression risks, migration concerns, and required validation. Prioritise by materiality and dependency impact.
The prompt was deliberately narrow and disciplined: audit only.
Execution
Vidar was tasked as the dedicated auditor. The prompt was first committed to accordant-vault following the repo’s existing structure, then Vidar executed the full sweep across all material accordant-eu repositories in a single, uninterrupted run.
The audit covered:
- Frontend, backend, and shared infrastructure layers
- Platform bridges and generated contract ownership
- Test and tooling infrastructure where materially relevant
Approach & Output
The methodology emphasised:
- Explicit subsystem inventory before deep analysis
- Clear “skip” decisions with rationale (to avoid noise)
- Dependency-aware prioritisation
- Smallest credible scope for each opportunity
- Confidence levels and validation requirements
Results were captured as:
- A canonical report/scratchpad committed to
accordant-vault - Individual GitHub issues opened on the respective repositories (one per material finding or coherent group of findings)
Why This Matters
As the accordant-eu estate grows, the cost of accidental complexity compounds. Periodic, prompt-driven, agent-executed audits give us a repeatable, low-friction way to surface simplification opportunities before they become expensive refactors. Because the work is strictly audit-only and the output is issue-based, the human decision layer remains firmly in control.
This run is the first large-scale application of the accordant-vault prompt library to the live estate. Future audits can reuse the same prompt (or refined variants) with minimal overhead.
